Hello dears,
I love shabby chic! maybe as much as I love Steampunk, that's what I want to share with you today.
Shabby chic is all about old and new together. Distressed and crackled paint, flowers, layers of fabric like lace and much more.
To create the background of my canvas:
I started by spreading the Canvas with White gesso and before it was completely dry I drew lines with a pencil in an equal distance. When the gesso was dried I marked again with the pencil each line.
I painted combining Blue green Decoart fluid acrylics and Patina green Decoart antiquing cream, leaving lots of white lines. I used a wide paintbrush with hard fibers so we can see the strokes. I immediately brushed the background, without paint, to remove some more paint and achieve a distressed look. Next step was to add some White gesso and Raw umber Decoart antiquing cream strokes with the same paint brush. I left it to dry completely.
A third flower was cut with the gorgeous Des fleurs Carabelle studio die set and colored with Spun sugar distress ink. I also cut from the same die set a flower doily, you can see it in the layers.
The leaves were stamped with feuilles Carabelle studio stamp on white cardstock and colored with Crushed olive distress ink.
The Birds image, flowers and Butterfly were cut out the gorgeous Scrapberry's primavera cards paper. The beautiful frame was made with Clay and Frame mold. The Home word is a Cardstock die cut from Prima's French Rivera paper pad.
Now it was time to assemble the layers with: Burlap, Laces, leaves, die cuts,Butterflies, Chipboard branches and Natural Moss.
Xoxo
